We love onboard videos. Whether it’s on a bike or in a car, on a track, hillclimb or road, being able to immerse yourself the experience is a joy. This morning we’re joy-filled, because we’ve got a Gerry Marshall Trophy qualifying lap from onboard a delightfully shouty Rover SD1. What a good start to the day.
It’s the 1981 3500 SD1 of Robert Oldershaw and three-time BTCC champion Matt Neal. We’re not sure who was driving at the time, but it’s a quick lap and also a seriously smooth one, even with a Mini 1275 GT getting in the way a tad coming through Madgwick. Oldershaw said the car was down on power to the competition, so there’s “plenty of work to do on that,” but even so it’s a fantastic run. We’ll take SD1 onboards all day, thank you.
