We love seeing these pre-war weapons getting a good kicking still almost a century on from their contemporary racing career and the pre-war race at the 2024 Monaco Historic delivered in spades.
Paddins Dowling took full advantage of his pole position start and shot into the lead in his ERA R5B ahead of Brad Baker in his R10B. Michael Birch unfortunately dropped to fifth in his Maserati 4CM on the start so had a fight on his hands. Fight he did, moving up to fourth and eventually third, to challenge Baker for second. The scrapping allowed Dowling to pull out a decent lead ahead of the charging Birch. In the end, it was a convincing ERA 1-2.
