The Forest Rally Stage at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard often gets a little overshadowed by its shorter, but more famous brother – the Goodwood Hill. And we at GRR are even sometimes guilty of being over-focused on the Hill over the brilliance of our own rally stage.
But we are endeavouring to redress the balance more. and thankfully our friend, and YouTuber, FailRace took his own camera out at the Festival in 2018 to capture some of the spectacular sideways action that goes on at the top of the Hill.
In case you didn’t know, the Forest Rally Stage was designed by none-other than Hannu Mikkola, and snakes around the top of the estate for over two miles. As Goodwood sits in the South Downs it is a chalk-based gravel surface, making it particularly slippery and challenging.
If you’ve never been up to the rally stage, hopefully this taster whets your appetite enough to head up there to see it. And if you aren’t going to be at the Festival of Speed, remember that it will be available to watch in a full live stream, free to all members of the GRRC Community. It’s just a couple of days away now, who’s excited?
