The talents of Romain Dumas are no secret here at Goodwood. The one-time record holder of the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb has long been a huge hero of ours and so footage like this is not hugely surprising.
Twice an overall winner at Le Mans, occasional rally driver, and all-around entertainer, Dumas is found here hurling a Porsche 911 GT3 RS RGT through a treacherous mountain stage in Monte Carlo. Grip looks minimal, to say the least, but that doesn’t stop him from absolutely pinning it whenever he gets a sniff of a straight bit of road.
Even as we experience the demise of one of the Go Pros, Dumas thunders on, this focus-built rally car dicing up the ground beneath it as it roars between the trees, rocks and sheer drops that we are mere inches away from entertaining.
We can imagine the eyes are on stalks throughout this video, but it’s immensely entertaining all the same.
