Beyond our own of course, the Spa Classic is one of our favourite historic racing events, with a selection of significant machinery getting properly let off the chain around one of the greatest motor racing circuits on Earth. The drivers really don’t let the seniority of these cars put them off giving them a good kicking, either, as we can see in today’s video.
We join historic racer and Goodwood regular Nigel Greensall in a Chevron B19 open-topped sportscar, taking on the CER1 race at the 2023 Spa Classic.
The man is a prodigious driver and racer, and has absolutely no qualms about exploring the upper echelons of the screaming B19’s rev range, with a few downshifts that near-on have the valves dancing on the engine cover.
If you can be sure of one thing though, it’s that Greensall knows his car, so while the Chevron sounds like it might be dancing with death, really, it’s loving it. The pace is proper too, with Greensall dispatching quite a few bigger-chested cars on his way around.
