We at GRR are no strangers to the magnificent work of Jim Pace. He’s a man who seems to just get faster with age. Each year JP, as his friends at HSR know him, can be found pumping out incredible laps in some mighty machinery across the world.
Here we find him at Historic Sportscar Racing’s Classic 12 at Sebring. A circuit and event we’ve been fortunate enough to visit on several occasions. And looking very much at home at the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT350. The GT350 is a muscular thing, carrying more of everything important than the standard car, thanks to a little help from some bloke called Shelby.
That means it’s even more feisty than the standard car, and when you stick a master driver at the wheel like JP, you’ll find it can even keep up with a Ford GT40 around the hallowed tarmac and concrete of Sebring. It hard work just watching Pace sometimes, as the GT350 is fighting, fighting, fighting to get away from him at every opportunity (it manages, very briefly on the first lap). But it’s so magnificent it’s almost a form of artwork to watch, and the sound could put Springsteen to shame.
