America – home of wonderful racetracks, huge V8s and favourable weather (for the most part, at least).
And today’s Elevenses, courtesy of Historic Sportscar Racing, is perhaps the most American onboard ever. Climb aboard a Shadow DN-4 with Jim Pace as he narrates the hottest of laps around Road America during the 2020 Hawk Performance Endurance Series.
Listen to the roar of its big-block Rousch-built Chevy as it puts in excess of 1,000PS to the historic Wisconsin circuit, and revel in Pace’s comprehensive knowledge. Competing against other historic production and prototype sportscars, he talks and drives with ease, pausing his dialogue only to focus on overtakes.
Built for the 1974 Can-Am series, the DN-4 dominated the competition, with Jackie Oliver taking the championship, and only his teammate, George Follmer, able to challenge him. Despite its age, with accomplished sportscar racer Pace behind the wheel, the Dn-4 proved this year that it’s still a force to be reckoned with.
If you are hankering after some historic motorsport action at the moment, remember that HSR begins its awesome Classic 24 at Daytona this week. We can't be there due to the current travel restrictions, but you should tune into their social channels as much as you can.
Welcome to Goodwood Elevenses, a mid-morning helping of motoring-related amusement to help break up your day. Watch the last video: Onboard the crazy Lamborghini SCV12
