There’s nothing like a drive through the gorgeous Swedish countryside on a sunny September afternoon is there? Green forests dotted with quaint hamlets and interspersed with sprawling meadows. Bliss. All that’s left to do is fire up the rally cars and send that scenery flying past the windows in a blur.
That’s what happens in what has quickly become one of our very favourite rally events in the world: the Rally Olofströmssprinten. It’s a two-stage event that sees a wonderfully eclectic mix of classic cars, from Escort RS 2000s to Saab V4s, and the car we’re riding onboard with here, a Toyota Starlet driven by the clearly incredibly talented David Pettersson as he absolute hurls this roaring machine between trees, bridges and houses.
It's the kind of thing we’d really love to try our hand at, but you just know even by watching the driver at work that this level of driving is way, way beyond the average level of talent – you wouldn’t even think he was tearing through gravel given how smooth and precise his line is throughout. Impressive stuff indeed.
