The 2022 Goodwood Revival will feature another one-make race in the Lavant Cup, where a grid of around 30 MGBs will put on what we expect to be one hell of a show. It’s the latest in a long series of one-make races that have graced the Motor Circuit over the years, including the Fordwater Trophy in 2011, which was contested by a field of 30 Jaguar E-types – one of the more beautiful races you will ever see. If nothing else, you have to take a second to watch as 30 exquisite E-types that raced between 1961 and ’66 stream into Madgwick away from the start line.
There are E-types of all kinds here, with lightweight, semi-lightweight and low-drag variants in coupe and roadster form all vying for the title of the best E-type at the Revival. It’s not just a field of legendary cars though, the list of drivers includes the likes of Emanuele Pirro, Gerhard Berger, Jochen Mass, Derek Bell and Dario Franchitti.
It’s difficult to stop watching this. Every time the camera angle changes there’s another perfect view of a gorgeous E-type. And so here we are, half an hour later, still watching. Apologies if you get nothing done for the rest of the day.
