Derek Bell knows a thing or two about racing sportscars. He has driven the odd one or two, he’s also driven one or two Porsche racing cars. He is therefore the perfect guide to one of the most iconic racing Porsches of all time. Oh, and he also raced it in period.

The Lowenbrau Porsche 962 is a one-off. A specially adapted car to take on the challenge of IMSA. It did that so well that it didn’t just win some races, it won the Daytona 24 Hours two years in a row.

But you shouldn’t take our word for it. When we bumped into Derek at Historic Sportscar Racing’s Classic 24 at Daytona late last year he was happy to chat through this amazing car with us in detail.
