A classic bit of American V8 muscle, plus one of the best race tracks in the states. It's always going to be a brilliant combination. So when Jody O'Donnell let us put a GoPro in his stunning black '69 Corvette during qualifying for The Mitty at Road Atlanta we were a pretty happy crew.
At the end O'Donnell had qualified on pole for the Bob Woodman International Challenge by a full second over his rivals, and he was in such good form he even found time to have a little trip into the gravel just for our cameras.
If you watch the on board above you will see why he was able to stick the Chevy on pole, Jody hustles that car as if his life depended on it, gliding the big black beast past slower rivals before nailing it on the long back straight at Road Atlanta – it looks and sounds awesome.
Come race day he wouldn't quite have it all his own way, as Todd Treffert jumped past him early on in his '74 Porsche 911 IROC But the German car was no match for the Corvette over the course of the race, and O'Donnell crossed the line first to take the opening race of the 40th Anniversary Mitty.
