If you’re familiar with the Harry Potter franchise, you might remember a moment in the second instalment, The Chamber of Secrets, where Harry and school chum Ron Weasley can’t make it onto Platform 9 ¾ at Kings Cross Station. In a desperate attempt to make it to school they commandeer Ron’s dad’s flying Ford Anglia. Now a flying car is great and all, but I can’t stop wondering how much more magical both the book and the film would have been if Harry and Ron had been behind the wheel of this 240PS (177kW) hillclimb Anglia. The Fast and the Furious: Hogwarts Drift – sounds good, doesn’t it?
This is not a normal Anglia. This is the Anglia of John Morgan, and instead of a 1.2-litre four-cylinder it has a 2.0-litre engine from Cosworth that revs to 8,600rpm. It also has slick tyres, a six-speed sequential gearbox and weighs just 760kg. It is, in short, a monster, and thanks to yet another corker of a video from YouTube channel ‘HillClimb Monsters’ we can enjoy it Slitherin(g) it’s way up Shelsley Walsh.
