There are two things we miss in this video. Firstly, the Lamborghini Diablo, seen here in racing SV-R spec, and secondly the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. Both are fondly remembered gems from the 1990s, so it’s fitting that this video evokes a ’90s feel with its 240p resolution.
Regardless of the image quality, the subject matter of this video is utterly sublime. A 5.7-litre V12 Diablo getting absolutely ragged around a hugely fast and flowing race track. The driver behind the wheel is no slouch either, forcing every one of that engine’s 540PS (397kW) to earn their keep as he works hard to keep everything in check through the heavy braking zone at the Adelaide hairpin, just barely clinging on to the final semblances of grip through the high-speed chicanes.
It’s a clinic in car control, but beyond all of that, the sound of that engine is enough to ensure we’ve played through this two-minute video about 19 times already. What a noise, what a car. Man, the ’90s were good.
