Much of the Daytona International Speedway’s beauty can be enjoyed with your eyes closed. The bankings cup the onslaught of noise as the cars tear around at full tilt. With the enormity of the place a car’s vocals are as much on display as the aesthetics, if not more.
As such cars like the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and Shelby Mustang GT350 outshone some of the top-level prototypes. Both caught their fair share of praise throughout the weekend of the Classic 24 but the Vantage is indisputably king, for us. We have our fair share of Mustangs ripping around Goodwood once or twice a year, so the sheer glory of that Shelby’s ripsnorting V8 is slightly lost on us, for our familiarity. The unfiltered gutterhal yowl of the last ever V12 racing car was too hypnotic to ignore. What’s your pick of the two?
