Here’s a question: what is the best sounding Corvette C6 race car? Is it the GT1, the GTE, the GT3 or the GT4? Well let’s find out.
If you’ve heard the new C8.R Corvette racer you’ll know it sounds, well, a little flat. It’s ridiculously fast, and being mid-engined it can do things on track the old front-engined ‘Vettes couldn’t. But with a 5.5-litre flat-plane crank V8 what it doesn’t do is blow our ears to kingdom come like the old C6.
The C6 came in a variety of race flavours. First there was the GT1, with its ginormous 7.0-litre V8. Then there was the GTE with a 5.5-litre V8. The GT3, meanwhile, had a 6.2-litre V8 like the C6 road car, and the GT4 had an even more closely road related 6.2-litre engine. Which sounds best? Let us know!
