Given the opportunity to drive an Audi S1 Quattro, most of us would enjoy it with a degree of gentleness. Not so Jozef Béres Jr., a five-time Slovakian rally champion and a man who really, really knows how to thread an old-school rally car up a mountainside.
This video, published way back in 2013 from the Oždianske Serpentíny, shows Béres wringing the S1’s neck. It’s bonkers – he seems to know exactly when to push through understeer into oversteer, and when to lift off, get the front tucked in and get back on the power. He also knows the very best moments to pull the handbrake, dumping the car into a glorious four-wheel drift. The fastest way around a corner? Probably not, but who cares? Bravo Bérez, bravo.
