This is the 2022 MotoGP calendar, and it all kicks off with the usual Qatar season-opener on 6th March as part of a 21-round year of two-wheeled action. Proceedings close at the traditional final venue of Valencia’s Circuit Reciardo Tormo on 6th November.

Two new tracks are joining the 2022 MotoGP calendar, including Indonesia, which follows as the second round on 20th March, and Finland in the middle of the season. The Indonesian round will be held at the brand new Mandalika International Street Circuit, while the Finnish round – the first Finnish GP since 1982 – will take place at the KymiRing on 10th July and will be the final round before the three-week summer break.

Pre-season testing begins at Jerez in October 2021 month before shakedowns at the end of January ‘22 and into February. Sepang and Mandalika testing takes place shortly afterwards in early and mid-February, before racing gets underway at the beginning of March. More updates as we have them.

Update: Finnish GP has been postponed until 2023

Updated Wednesday 25th May 2022. MotoGP has announced the Finnish round of this year’s championship will be postponed until 2023.

The decision has been made after the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and Finland’s subsequent declaration of its intention to join NATO, caused supply issues which have ultimately led to homologation works at the KymiRing circuit not being completed in time.

Finland was preparing to host its first motorcycle grand prix event for 40 years, a return that has been anticipated since it was first announced on the 2020 calendar before being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This announcement means the 2022 MotoGP season will comprise 20 rounds with a six-week gap between the Dutch and British Grands Prix.
