Aston Martin Vantage GT3 spied testing at Silverstone
New images have been revealed of Aston Martin’s recently-announced LMGT3 challenger. Based on the upcoming next-generation Vantage is the Vantage GT3 ‘Evolution’, which of course is not yet confirmed to be the car’s official name.
Seen in testing around Silverstone, the car is wearing camouflage to hide elements that will be new for the updated road-going Vantage, including its heavily revised front facia. We can, however, still see outlines of what will be the light clusters and, even with so little to go on, the family resemblance to the new DB12.
Being an ‘Evolution’ of the existing car, there’s very little in the way of change to the silhouette, though aero addenda has evolved with the new GT3 regulations. The car will in all likelihood use a version of the turbocharged V8 used in the previous Vantage GT3 and GTE.
Aston says the new Vantage GT3 should be ready to run in the 2024 seasons of both IMSA and the WEC. The car is in its final testing phase, with drivers reporting highly positive feedback on how the car has turned out so far.
It’ll face stiff competition however from other fresh GT3 challengers, including the new Ferrari 296 GT3 – a proven N24 winner, no less – the BMW M4 GT3, the Corvette GT3.R and of course the new Porsche 911 GT3 R, among many more. Hand-in-hand with GTP (in the States) and Hypercar, LMGT3 grids will feed the spectacular diversity we’ve been enjoying of late.
