F1 Academy returned to a more traditional setting for round three of the 2024 season at the Circuit de Catalunya. Abbi Pulling entered the weekend in red hot form following her maiden win in British Formula 4. In contrast, her closest championship rival Doriane Pin had suffered a fractured rib during her time away from F1 Academy which forced her into an extended period on the sidelines. The Frenchwoman perhaps unsurprisingly looked a little out of sorts, but left the door open for Chloe Chambers to step up and take the limelight.
Pulling showed once again that she’s the woman to beat in F1 Academy in 2024 as she took pole for both races, but it was Chambers who surfaced as her closest challenger. The American Haas representative took an emphatic victory in race two to climb up to third in the standings, level on points with Pin, but a long way behind Pulling.
Nerea Martí enjoyed her home round with a second place in race one and another strong fourth place in race two, bringing home plenty of points to jump to fourth in the championship ahead of Bianca Bustamante. Pulling will carry her substantial 66-point lead into the next round in Zandvoort.
