Formula E organisers have confirmed the 2024 Hyderabad E-Prix has been cancelled following an alleged 'breach of contract' by the newly elected local government.
The Indian round of the Formula E World Championship was due to take place on 10th February. It would have been the second race staged on the streets of Hyderabad after a successful inugural running in 2023.
This final decision comes in the wake of weeks of speculation after organisers within Formula E recieved a letter from the Government of Telangana that threatened to scupper the race. A statement released by Formula E noted local authorities had made a decision 'not to fulfil the Host City Agreement' and that this stipulated a 'breach of contract'.
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, said: "It is deeply frustrating that we cannot build on the success of the inaugural race last year, which delivered almost $84million in positive economic impact to the region.
"Racing in Hyderabad was important to showcase the benefits of adopting electric vehicles in a market where pollution from vehicle engines has a massive impact on public health and the environment."
As it stands, there will be no replacement for the race, which means the 2024 Formula E calendar is cut to 16 races.
Updated: Thursday 23rd November at 09:30. The 2024 Formula E calendar is now complete and ratified as it has been confirmed that Misano will fill the void left by the Rome E-Prix, taking the double header spot on 13th-14th April. It was decided the Italian round would need to be moved to a new venue for 2024 after conclusions that the Gen3 cars were too quick for the narrow and high-speed street circuit in Rome. A multi-car shunt in the 2023 running of the event sealed its fate.
So now the Italian rounds of the Formula E world championship will take place at the permanent Misano track that has most recently been a regular venue for MotoGP. It means there will now be four permanent facilities on the calendar in 2024, with Misano joining the Shanghai International Circuit, Portland International Raceway and Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City.
Updated: Wednesday 25th October at 16:30. Formula E will hold the first ever motor race in the city of Tokyo in 2024, and now we know what the circuit will look like.
A track map for the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix reveals a twisty 2.582km street circuit that will incorporate 18 turns and three high-speed sections around the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre.
The Tokyo E-Prix is scheduled to take place on 30th March 2024.

Before the racing gets underway for Season 10 of Formula E, the teams will contest pre-season testing in Valencia from 23rd-27th October. After that the countdown begins to round one at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
From there, the circus heads to Diriyah before returning to South America for the São Paulo E-Prix on 16th March.
Formula E then travels to Tokyo, for what will be the first ever motor race held on the streets of the Japanese capital. The Monaco E-Prix is scheduled for 27th April, before a trip to Berlin. Formula E will then return to China, which hosted the Beijing E-Prix in 2014 and ’15, and was the venue of the first ever Formula E race. In 2024, the Chinese round will take place at the Shanghai International Circuit, which is also set to return to the F1 calendar for the first time since 2019.
Season 10 of Formula E will conclude with double headers in Portland on 29th-30th June, and London for the final two races of the year in July.
