The future is now, dear readers. The world’s first flying racing car has made its first flights. Before too long, a grid of these machines will be racing in their own series, the EXA.
Humble beginnings took place in the deserts of South Australia, with local aviation safety authorities watching on closely. Throughout the development of the project, the team from Airspeeder has been working closely with regulators to make sure this all-new concept complies with existing safety requirements.
Now it’s made its first flights and passed regulatory scrutiny, they can move forward with the race series. The first electric flying car GPs will happen as early as this year, with three international locations to be announced. Motorsport, aviation and esports combine for a talent pool of racers to remotely pilot a grid of eVTOL craft. Tracks will be electronically governed and shown in augmented reality to competitors.
The old idiom of race on Sunday sell on Monday is to live on here. The ultimate goal of the project is the aid in the development and speed up the arrival of air mobility.
