The seventh full-length entry in the Gran Turismo racing game franchise has been delayed, now releasing in 2022. The game had been scheduled to debut in the second half of 2021.
“GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022,” a Sony spokesperson said.
“With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We’ll share more specifics on GT7’s release date when available.”
The game was revealed with an exciting trailer last year during the PlayStation 5 console reveal event in June. Polyphony was always cagey about when to expect the title, understandably given its track record, but the general consensus was a late 2021 release. Indeed, a November 2020 ad penned Gran Turismo 7 as coming out in 2021. There’s no word yet on when in 2022 the game will release but we’ll tentatively predict that it’ll be the first half of the year.
