What a busy month it’s been for Marta García, and now there’s been another new development for the reigning F1 Academy champion. She’s set to take part in the upcoming Formula E rookie test taking place in Berlin on Monday 13th May for what will be a massive step in her path towards the higher echelons of motorsport.
It’s the clearest indication yet of the impact F1 Academy is having for women in motorsport, and what opportunities might become available for the current and future stars of the all-female series.
García will get behind the wheel of the ERT X24 Gen3 car that’s being raced in the 2024 Formula E world championship by Sergio Sette Camara and Dan Ticktum. The ERT team currently sits ninth in the team’s championship.
She’ll be joined at the test by Jack Aitken, who’ll be driving for Envision, and ABT Cupra’s Tim Tramnitz, with several other drivers still yet to be announced.
"I am thrilled to join ERT Formula E Team for the Berlin Rookie Test.” García said. “Formula E represents the future of motorsport, and I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to experience it firsthand.
“I've been following the championship closely, and I'm eager to get behind the wheel of the ERT X24 car and contribute to the team's development. This test is a stepping stone in my career, and I'm determined to make the most of it."
Marta García's participation in the Formula E rookie test is just the latest in a series of announcements about her activities in 2024. She’s recently signed with Iron Dames and will compete alongside current F1 Academy racer Doriane Pin in the FRECA series.
