NASCAR has confirmed that its excellent behind-the-scenes series Full Speed will return for a second series in 2025.

As well as a second series, NASCAR also announced that it and the production team Words + Pictures had teamed up to create Full Speed Entertainment which will “develop and produce a wide swath of premium racing content, ranging from documentaries, series and special events to studio shows, podcasts and more.”

The first series of Full Speed focused on the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, all but ignoring the rest of the season that came before to make sure that the program had a tighter remit than previous attempts at a NASCAR series had.

With the outcome of the current season extremely hard to predict, it should make for a good follow up to what we at GRR thought was a better execution than Formula 1’s Drive to Survive

Full Speed benefited from more access to its drivers than DTS, and a more open attitude within the NASCAR paddock to talking to media, and crucially, to being open to revealing internal thoughts and feelings.

NASCAR did not expand on exactly when next year the new series will begin, or exactly what new shows the Full Speed Entertainment partnership would develop. It did however confirm that Emmy Award-winner Tally Hair, who was one of the executive producers on Full Speed, would continue and serve as the new general manager of Full Speed Entertainment.

Speaking of the announcement, Tim Clark, NASCAR’s executive vice president and chief brand officer, said: “Early into the Full Speed process, I knew we wanted to find more ways to collaborate and capitalise on new opportunities for NASCAR as cultural demand for compelling sports stories continues to grow.

“Words + Pictures is the premier storyteller in the sports content space, and Connor’s team excels in not just generating big ideas and visions, but executing them in ways that captivate big audiences.”
