All sim racers are looking for the most authentic experience possible, be that with virtual reality, special motion control rigs or expensive wheel hardware. Well, if you fancy jumping into a champion’s shoes and have £100,000 to spare, we could have the ultimate immersive device here for a sim racer. It’s a rig built out of the Red Bull RB18, the team’s dominant 2022 car that secured it the Formula 1 world championship and Max Verstappen his second driver’s title.
The two rigs are obviously not created out of actual chassis that raced, else they’d be far more valuable than what even these are priced at. But they’re made using the same processes as the genuine F1 racers, in the same composite tooling using the team’s CAD data.
From the back of the sidepod forward, it really is all there and feels like the real deal, minus the front suspension and wheels. In terms of the hardware? We’re not sure on the computer, though it’s said a premium AOC curved screen and Z906 Ultimate THX Surround Sound are included.
Two versions, the Champions Edition and the Race Edition will be available, priced at £99,999 and £74,999 respectively, which is a pretty tidy sum for a sim rig. The Champions Edition gets the whole nose with front wing, while the Race Edition gets only the central tunnel (where your legs will go), without the nose cone. The halo on both is also removable, if you wish.
"We are delighted to have co-created a unique sim racing experience that puts drivers in the cockpit of the championship-winning RB18,” said Christian Horner, Red Bull’s Team Principal.
“Driving a Formula 1 car is something most of us can only dream of, but this simulator is as close as it gets to the real thing. Memento Exclusives have recreated the car to bring the track into your home."
