Abt Lola have confirmed that Tatiana Calderón will join the team for the upcoming Formula E rookie free practice in Saudi Arabia on Thursday 13th February, ahead of the Jeddah E-Prix that weekend.

Calderón, who is currently competing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, has previously tested for Formula E. She drove the DS E-Tense FE19 at the sport’s first in-season test event in December 2018, also in Saudi Arabia, and again the following month at the rookie test event in 2019.

She also took part in Formula E’s all-female test event in Madrid last November, partnering with Carrie Schreiner at Maserati.

Starting her career in karting aged nine, Calderón was the first woman to win the National Championships in both her native Colombia and the United States. She made more history in 2013 as the first woman to stand on the podium in British Formula 3 International Series, and she has experience in WEC, IndyCar, Formula 2 and GP3. The 31-year-old also served as a development and test driver for the Sauber F1 team from 2018-2021.

Alongside Lola Cars Chairman, Till Bechtolsheimer, Calderón competed last month’s 24 Hours of Daytona with Gradient Racing, though she failed to finish.

2025 marks Lola’s return to motorsport after its failed Formula 1 bid in the late 1990s, Bechtolsheimer revitalising the brand with entry into Formula E in partnership with Yamaha, though the team hasn’t scored a point from two races this season

“I’m very excited to join the Lola Yamaha ABT Team for the Rookie Free Practice in Jeddah, which I feel is a great opportunity provided by Formula E for drivers who are new to the series,” Calderón said. “I’ve been impressed with the progress this new team has made so far and that is a testament of the quality of the people behind it.”

“There’s a great atmosphere with everyone pushing in the same direction, something I’ve felt when I’ve been preparing in the simulator. I‘m very grateful to the whole team for this opportunity and can’t wait to hit the track in Jeddah to help them gain some valuable data in preparation for the first double-header of the season.”

Mark Preston, Motorsport Director at Lola Cars, said: “We are pleased to welcome Tatiana to the team in Jeddah. Her talent and experience, combined with her previous testing in Formula E with both the GEN2 and the GEN3 Evo, are the ideal combination for a new team and manufacturer as we continue to develop our package.”
