The FIA crowns its first female international champion since 1966

Cross becomes the first female winner of an FIA international championship since Susy Raganelli won the World Karting Championship in 1966.

The 14-year-old Spaniard won six races to take the senior title by 125 points ahead of Markas Silkunas of Lithuania. Her consistency across six rounds and 24 races saw her score on all but one occasion, as she regularly finished in the top five to overshadow the competition.

She was one of three drivers to be supported by the F1 Academy Discover Your Drive initiative in the senior category, and will be rewarded with an entry into an official F1 Academy test at the end of 2024 to continue her journey up the motorsport ladder.

A member of the Mercedes setup since 2022, Cross’ latest success will no doubt put her in a strong position to progress through 2025. She’ll need to wait until she turns 16 to be eligible for a place on the F1 Academy grid, but she’s certainly on the right track to follow in the footsteps of the series’ current Mercedes star, Doriane Pin.
