Are the McLaren Senna and 765LT a bit too compromised, a bit too ‘road’, for you? Fear not, Woking is to the rescue, with a genuine 720S GT3 car prepped for the most hardcore of track day enthusiasts that want a taste of a real endurance racer. Meet the 720S GT3X.

The GT3X is to the GT3, what the 919 Evo is to the standard Porsche 919 LMP1 racer. That’s to say, based on a homologated racecar, but without any of the limitations of race regulations in terms of power limits. Free of air restrictors and with added bigger turbos, improved cooling, bigger manifolds and blueprinted cylinder heads, the GT3X puts down over 710PS (522kW). That’s a bump of over 200PS (147kW) from the rules-following racer upon which it’s based.

There are bigger brakes to slow this much faster variant down but the aero package is very similar to that of the GT3, albeit balanced for this off-the-chain special. A GT3-esque electronics package and suspension system is also retained, with configurable traction control and ABS settings. On the inside, the only difference with the GT3X is that its new roll cage allows for a passenger seat.

There’s no pricing yet for the GT3X, though the stock GT3 is priced at £440,000. Potential buyers have been invited by McLaren to ‘register interest’. Would you take this over a Senna and 765LT?
