Hertz Team JOTA, Singer Vehicle Design and Brady are teaming up on a 2023 World Endurance Championship effort, including the Le Mans 24 Hours, with a Porsche 963. Jota announced plans to buy in a while ago but now, we’ve got our first look at the livery… and it is spectacular.
With a livery designed by Singer, the white and yellow of Hertz sits over the top of a stunning new Hertz Racing Gold hue. The Singer ‘signature’ is emblazoned loud and proud in gold over the black of the Porsche’s central rear aero fin. The livery celebrates 100 years of racing heritage at Le Mans with a classically-influenced scheme.
“In designing the livery, we wanted to recognize both the past and the future,” said Rob Dickinson, Design Director, Chairman and Founder, Singer Group, Inc.
“Growing up in the 1970s and ‘80s, drivers like Derek Bell, Hurley Haywood and Jacky Ickx were heroes, battling for hours in machines capable of well over 200mph while winning races in a golden era for Porsche. We’ve always been inspired by motorsport at Singer so, in the centenary year of the Le Mans 24 Hours, this golden livery celebrates all those who have competed at the highest levels of endurance racing, Hertz Team Jota’s first campaign in the World Endurance Championship, and the Porsche 963’s role in driving the development of renewable fuels and hybrid technology.”
While this is the first campaign for Hertz Team Jota, the Jota team are well-experienced in the art of endurance racing. Over the course of the last nine years, the team has secured ten podium finishes in LMP2. With this 963, it’s the team’s first venture to a top class and their first go for the overall championship, and overall victory at Le Mans.
“As a team, we have demonstrated our abilities to perform securing ten podiums in the last nine years of Le Mans 24 Hours,” said team co-owners David Clark and Sam Hignett.
“Thanks to the support of our new partners, we’re stepping up to the Hypercar class and Hertz Team JOTA will be competing against some of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers. We have a strong, experienced team and as one of the few private entries into the class we’re keeping the spirit of Le Mans alive and look forward to getting out on track.”
Team and car will debut at the 1,000 miles of Sebring, which is the first round (of seven) of the 2023 World Endurance Championship.
