Sometimes you see silly race versions of cars revealed and just think “that’s never actually getting an engine, much less hitting a track”. One could have been forgiven for tarring the A110 Pikes Peak with the same brush on its reveal. Mostly CGI images of a car that looked too mad to exist. It’d have been dismissed out of hand if not for the talk of testing and indeed, taking on Pikes Peak properly. Well now, we have footage of the thing in action.
Bathing in the snow at the heady heights of Val Thorens, we get a brief walk around before it begins its attack of the mountain roads. Unsurprisingly, it sounds quite unlike any A110 we’ve yet seen, more like a WRC car than the soft-touch lightweight sportscar we’ve come to know and love. There’s a decent amount of fluttering within the engine sound as the car sits at its gear-limited top speed, spewing up road dust with its monster aero. It looks properly handy and we can’t wait to see what it can do. Hopefully we see it on the Hill at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard at some point…
