We are all familiar with those epic, heroic shots of the Dakar Rally going back decades; rooster tails of sand flaring up behind motorbikes, majorly over-engineered machinery catching serious air over the dunes, even the mighty Kamaz trucks battling the terrain.
This video is very different, a behind-the-scenes look at the Dakar from the point of view of the competitors; literally. This compilation of onboards definitely demonstrates the challenges facing the teams but also the camaraderie that exists on such a gruelling adventure. We watch Rebecca Busi and co-drover Roberto Musi joke in the cockpit of their Range Rover Classic before stopping to help a beached Rothmans liveried Porsche 911. When that doesn't work a mighty race support truck takes over and gets the job done. It all makes us want to head to the dunes if we're honest.
