As if driving a Caterham on the road wasn’t thrilling enough, our only want right now, after watching this video, is to get our hands on another one and take it around a race track. A circuit with plenty of corners would be preferable because that is what this little sportscar is built for, and on the evidence of this hustling drive, it’s outrageously fast.
The car ahead is a Lamborghini boasting an enormous advantage in the power stakes, and yet this Caterham Seven CSR 260 with its 260PS (191kW) 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine refuses to get left behind.
Aside from the obvious cornering prowess, this Caterham just looks like an absolute joy to drive. The compact driving position just looks so perfectly suited to track driving; our driver seems able to balance the car without having to work awfully hard at the wheel. The six-speed sequential gearbox is also wonderfully slick.
He’s also just sat there in a t-shirt and shorts, which is just the perfect outfit for some intense track racing. We can’t imagine how nice it must feel to have the wind blasting you from all angles as you wend your way around this very exciting-looking track.
