Video: Five Huayra R V12s sing a mechanical siren song

It’s Friday afternoon so let’s face it, you’ve probably already clocked out, even if you’re still sat there waggling a mouse around. So we have a suggestion for you: plug your headphones in, look at your screen in a really concentrated way, like you’re still working, and try not to contort your face in a suggestive manner as the contents of this video scramble your brains. Because boy, is it a doozy. Volume moderation advised, for five – yes five – Pagani Huayra R track-only hypercars scream their way around Monza.

This clip comes from the ever-fruitful Bozzy channel on YouTube, sitting trackside while five-dozen cylinders bounce back and forth at 9,000rpm. The Huayra R really is a track-only hypercar like no other in terms of sound. Yes, the GMA T50s revs to 12,100rpm. We know the Valkyrie AMR Pro goes to 11,000rpm.

But somehow, even at a lowly 9,000rpm limit, these Huayras just sound more extreme. There’s an almost other-dimensional, ethereal, organic quality to it, like it really is alive. The howl of that 6.0-litre HWA-engineered V12 resembles more the call of a siren, than the sound of mechanical maelstrom.
