Video: Here’s four minutes of François Delecour hooning an A110 R-GT
Here at GRR we’re huge fans of the Alpine A110 – both old and new. And the rally-spec A110 R-GT is the crème de la crème of the modern iteration, with 300 horsepower going to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential. We like it a lot. And we like seeing it get thrown around by François Delecour a lot, too.
While the A110 R-GT shares the same 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the road-going A110, that’s where all similarities end, with the FIA-approved A110 R-GT boasting a Signatech-modified chassis, Brembo brakes, three-way adjustable suspension, a roll cage and two Sabelt bucket seats and harnesses.
Unveiled last September, we’ve been dribbling over it ever since. And when testing videos emerged late last year, we all but cried for joy. This one features the absolute nutter, 1993 World Rally Championship runner-up and 1994 Monte Carlo Rally winner, François Delecour, and co-driver Laurent Pellier. Seeing a sportscar go rallying will never get old.
