Ever wondered how one of these insanely powerful Gymkhana machines comes together? This is a great opportunity to watch on, as Travis Pastrana’s 2022 Family Huckster transforms from a bare chassis to a fully functional, 862PS, drifting, roaring monster.
It’s quite fascinating, and deeply satisfying insight into how a modern performance car is built, but what’s more interesting is the amount of detail we don’t get to see. That engine is, understandably, kept firmly under wraps. Heaven knows the level of tinkering that has occurred there to prise quite so much power out of that modest four-cylinder engine. Our best guesses, however well-informed, shall remain guesses.
Then we get to sit back and watch the suspension, transmission and steering assembly take shape, along with details such as the 3D-printed square exhaust poking out of the bonnet to act as the ideal finishing touch.
This is an incredible car, one of our absolute favourites from the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. The active aero is one thing, but the amount of suspension travel as it dives into corners and blasts out of them again makes this one of the coolest cars to watch in motion. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should totally make time to see it in action as it flies up the Hill.
