We’re in a state of wonderment at the moment, at the size and variety of the hypercar grid that’ll be lining up for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. Porsches, Ferraris, Cadillacs, Peugeots, Toyotas, Vanwalls and more comprise what is an incredible top-level grid for the race. Yet even this, the Centenary celebration race, isn’t as far as it’ll go, for contenders from BMW, Lamborghini and indeed, Isotta Fraschini, will join next year. The latter is what we see in today’s video, flat-out testing at Monza.
The Tipo 6 LMH is Isotta Fraschini’s Le Mans Hypercar or LMH, one of the two top classes able to race at Le Mans under the new rules. You might imagine a small outfit might want to go the cheaper LMDh route, but the advantages of LMH include more freedom of design and concept. The Tipo 6 sounds and looks very fast, packing a twin-turbo V6 engine. It’s moving around a bit, especially at corner exit, at what looks like a brisker Monza test day than most. The 2023 Le Mans 24 Hours starts on Saturday 11th June, and it’s bound to be one of the most exciting were seen for a long time.
We can’t wait for the next contingent of hypercars to arrive in 2024, will this Isotta Fraschini have what it takes to challenge Toyota and the rest?
