Usually, around about now, we’d be revving up for a full season of road racing. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has other plans, and with the consecutive cancellations of the Isle of Man TT, Ulster Grand Prix and the North West 200, we’re starting to feel a little listless.
Thankfully, YouTube boasts a wealth of footage from screaming superbike races, and this morning we’ve found ourselves down a rabbit hole of hot laps. And if you have 12 minutes to spare today, spend it well and get stuck into the infamous battle between Yamaha’s Lee Johnston and Triumph’s Peter Hickman during the 2019 Ulster Grand Prix.
Competing in the SuperSport Race, the pair dart around each other at incredibly close proximity, taking on the 7.4-mile Dundrod circuit at blistering speeds. Excellent angles (collated by Greenlight Television) show the sheer edge-of-you-seat racing between the pair – and the rest of the pack for that matter.
