Just as football extends from the playgrounds of elementary schools, to the arenas of world competition, so too does motorsport extend from dirt trails and hobbyists, all the way up to Formula 1. F1 is great and everything but it’s so fun to look at how grassroots enthusiasts get their shot of adrenaline. Welcome to Dirt Spectator Races, where we first see a Honda Civic line up against an old Chrysler Cordoba for a rip.
A strange pairing you might think, especially for what is called the ‘V8’ class. V8 in this context just means ‘quite fast’, so anything quick, all-wheel-drive. The import and the muscle monster go for a lap and the Civic takes the lead, with the Chysler getting a bit out of shape in the turns. Following on we have everything from a boggo VW Passat, to Mitsubishi Evos, to ’60s Oldsmobiles, to new-ish Dodge Chargers. It’s a hilarious mishmash of races, featuring cars and drivers you’d ordinarily expect to be in the car park and the spectator stands respectively. Can we have a go?
