If anyone is trying to come up with a list of the most influential women currently working in motorsport, Samantha Tan is surely someone who can be included. As a team owner in GT3 racing where she currently competes in the GT World Challenge America, her team was the first to race with the new BMW M4 GT3 car, and also the first to win with it when her team took victory in the 12 Hours of Mugello.
We had a chance to sit down with Samantha during our visit to Daytona for the HSR Classic 24 Hour, where she told us her story from childhood car fanatic to, as she describes herself, a: “BMW fangirl”, all the way up to now, where she has set herself the ultimate goal of competing at each of the four big endurance races in the world: the Le Mans 24 Hours, the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 24 Hours of Spa and the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
Her enthusiasm is immediately evident just from our very brief conversation, but you can see why her team has become so successful, she’s clearly equally knowledgeable. She clearly adores racing, and we’re pretty sure you can expect to hear even more about Samantha Tan in the years to come.
