For years and years motorsport fans have always asked themselves the same questions of a new set of rules: Sure it’s good, but is it as good as the old? Thankfully we at Goodwood can at least help to answer that question.
For example, here, from the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, is the prototype version of the brand new Ford Puma WRC, as launched at Goodwood, and a classic 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX.
The two cars both took on the hillclimb, with Adrian Formeaux at the wheel of the Puma, and the comparison between the two is remarkably close. OK, we have to accept that the modern car is a prototype, and not the final version, but Formeaux is a formidable young driver and appears to be giving it the full beans. So to see the Impreza looking so up to speed is really rather cool.
We’ll let you decide which you think is cooler, but first we want to know what cars you are looking forward to seeing fly up the hill this year?
