Video: Moto2 racer screams around a kart track
When it comes to motorised vehicles, there’s something fun about sticking a big fish in a small pond. Big, in terms of dimensions is obviously amusing, but what's more fun is big in terms of performance, like a Moto2 bike on a go-kart track, which is what we see here today.
Max Toth is a Junior GP rider, and we see him in this video taking his racing steed for some testing. The venue? The Spanish kart track, Sallent. It is, as the description concedes, an unorthodox location for such an endeavour. But sometimes you have to think outside the box.
“It’s a lot of power to be having on a small track like this,” Toth says. “Let’s see. It’s a crazy idea. Butterflies are going. I’m pretty nervous…” Don’t blame you, chum.
With the bike warmed through, Toth leathers up, mounts up, and lets it loose. We can see right from the off this track demands Toth control the bike in terms of throttle and lean with absolute precision. The lefts and rights in terms of leaning must have been incredibly physically draining.
The session obviously yields some revisions to the bike but primarily, it’s about getting dialled back in with the bike after a Supermoto-heavy off-season for Toth. We can see he quickly gets to grips with the bike and takes it to its limits, even in the tighter, trickier sections. The roaring triple that of course comes courtesy of Triumph is an aural delight, too.
