The amount of track-only hypercar specials built exclusively for the discerning billionaire enthusiast has increased exponentially over the past couple of years, with Vulcan and P1 GTR joining the long-serving Ferrari XX cars and Pagani Zonda R a couple of years ago.
This year’s Senna GTR and Aston Valkyrie AMR Pro are set to expand the genre and its horizons still more, with lap-times approaching LMP1 and F1, so say their creators.
When all’s said and done, though, is original not best? Ferrari were there first with their FXX and 599XX monsters, with the former inspiring the “I don’t know what the point is but I’m glad they did it” sentiments in all of us getting on for 12 years ago now. They’re still out doing the rounds at circuits across the globe and every year at FOS, filling Sussex with a guttural V12 wail. Riding on board a 599XX Evo getting absolutely chucked around road Atlanta must be an incredible thrill.
