After 2017, NASCAR is losing one of its most beloved names. Dale Earnhardt Jr and Sr were staples of the sport's grids since the mid '70s, racking up getting on for 150 wins over the course of their tenure, from Dale Sr's induction in 1975, to Dale Jr's retirement this year.
It is one of the sport's great dynasties, going back to Ralph Earnhardt's introduction to racing in 1949, but rather than lamenting Earnhardt Jr's departure, it's best to celebrate his achievements. In the case of the video above, it's the blinding performance he put in for 2014's Daytona 500, as one of the most tumultuous runnings in recent memory saw Earnhardt Jr lead 54 of the last 70 laps, fighting off strong challenges from Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski to take his second win of the famous race.
