For 2024, the Iron Dames have been flying in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo 2, and Sarah Bovy was on fire during qualifying for the 6 Hours of São Paulo to score pole position for the team by a massive four-tenth margin.
Here we’re riding onboard through that scintillating Hyperpole lap, 5.2-litre V10 roaring down the main straight before Bovy absolutely obliterates the brake pedal and wrestles to send the car squirming into the apex at Turn One. It looks a handful, but she’s carrying so much speed down the hill on her way to the next big braking zone at Turn 4.
It’s another big stop, and the effort is obvious as she once again battles to keep the car under control. From there it’s all about smoothness, and she floats the car through the infield before one more big and important braking zone at the final real corner, before the long uphill drag to the finish line.
She’s smoother this time, prioritising a quick exit so that she can carry as much speed as possible and it works an absolute treat. A textbook lap from a quality racing driver who along with her team deserved much more than a retirement from the race that followed.
The Iron Dames currently sit eighth in the LMGT3 standings after a tricky year that has yet to yield a podium finish. There are still three rounds to turn it all around, though, and Bovy will be hoping for more qualifying laps like this one in COTA, Fuji and Bahrain.
