Of all the sports that you didn’t think could be miniaturised to play at home, I would suggest that Rally Raid was pretty high on the list. How do you recreate the sand, gravel, rocks, jumps and hazards of a Baja-style event while the cars are tiny and have to be constantly connected to the track?
Well, someone has managed o do that. And to do it in their attic. And it’s extraordinary. We only need a minute of your time, dear viewer, to showcase just how awesome this is, and a very shaky camera.
This slot car track has it all. There’s a big old jump right at the start where, at least to the naked eye, the car does seem to leave the track. There’s a super high climb that almost comes out of the roof, steep drops and, quite extraordinarily, a rock crawl.
It is a fantastic homemade invention, that is held up by cardboard boxes and hope, the kind of thing that you desperately wanted when you were seven.
