Summer is nearly here and that means, on top of getting our fun cars back out for the nicer weather, it’s also time to get back out on track. Whether that means track days or, indeed, going karting, it’s got to be done. Tempting us towards the latter, we have today’s video, an onboard Cadwell Park in a Superkart race.
The driver is Sam Moss, the year is 2018 (let’s try not to think about how this was five years ago) and the performance is, well, a masterclass of pack navigation. Because Sam makes a good fist of chopping no less than 18 of his rivals, climbing from 24th to finish sixth.
That’s no small feat around what can be an incredibly challenging circuit, with undulations, dips, dives, off-camber turns, switchbacks and rapidly thinning sections of track. The screaming little motor rips through the gears, as Sam dances the kart left to right and back again, slicing through the pack. Our toxic trait is thinking we could be anywhere near this fast in a kart. Won’t know until we try…
