What does a six-time MotoGP champion do in his spare time? The answer is obvious: jump straight back on a motorbike to find an even more dangerous form of the sport. Which is what Marc Marquez is doing here.
And he’s not the only one. Valentino Rossi is regularly seen on a dirt bike, Colin Edwards spent years training off road, pretty much every MotoGP rider spends their spare time on dirt bikes.
But not many of them are in hardcore competition, in front of a crowd, in a speedway race. And not against a bunch of amateurs either, this dirt track race includes riders including multiple American champion Jared Mees.
This is Superprestigio Dirt Track, an invitational dirt track race held in Palau Sant Jordi, Spain, from 2014 to 2017. We won’t spoil the outcome of this particular event, but we will mention that other riders included Bradley Smith, Alex Marquez and Kenny Noyes. Not bad that.
