The go-karts that you and I spend our time in at the weekend, or for a team away-day arrive-and-drive session, have about 5PS. They still feel pretty rapid, pretty fun, and pretty exciting to drive. So what would happen if you stuck a 170PS motorbike engine in the back?
Well, this is the answer. And it’s entirely insane. Not many modifications have been made to this kart so on the face of it it doesn’t look like it’s going to be that impressive. But that is only if you ignore the 1,000cc Honda CBR engine that’s sat behind the driver…
That means 170PS in a car that weighs only just more than the driver. Being generous and saying this whole thing weighs 100kg that would mean 1,700PS per tonne… which is something even Koenigsegg can pretty much only dream of.
Does it work? Yes. Yes, it does. it absolutely screams away from the line, with the driver barely able to keep his insane creation in a straight line. It’s just as insane as the headline sounds and we salute anyone willing to make this kind of machine.
