Video: This Peugeot 905 reminds us why we miss V10s
Watching it come to life in its pit box, it's easy to imagine this Peugeot 905 is a professional singer preparing to go on stage, hitting low notes, tickling high notes, and holding a steady pitch like it’s going through some kind of vocal warm-up. Only, to our ears, this Peugeot is way better than any chart singer we’ve ever heard.
V10 engines have many advantages, but their ability to rev (and the noise they produce as they do it) are two of our favourite qualities, and the Peugeot's no different as its engine spins to more than 12,000rpm. The 905 coughs and splutters as it cruises down the pitlane before its engine note transforms into an ear-piercing howl. Our driver pins the throttle pedal and sets off treating our ears to an audio exploration out on track.
What follows is a selection box worth of full-throttle drive-bys, part-throttle passes, and aggressive downshifts as the 905 pours heat into its brakes and joy into our ears.
