Tractor pulling. It's not the most... glamorous of sports, is it? It's literally creating really, really, REALLY big tractors to pull some extremely heavyweights as far as you can across an unploughed field. The RAC TT Celebration, it is not.
But, that doesn't mean that every now and then we at Goodwood Road & Racing don't sit down and find ourselves mesmerised by some of this agricultural action.
Take this video, which brings together some of the most extraordinary machines that have ever been built for motorsport. And yes, they have engines and they keep score, so it is a form of motorsport. For example, the first few clips are of tractors with literal jet turbine engines. Four of them. Yes. Four.
Then there are the more normal ones that come later if you can use the word normal at any stage when describing machines that have at least three engines. We once made a video about cars that have two engines, which seemed extraordinary. But in the most extreme world of tractor pulling, two is barely even enough to enter.
Some of these setups are so complex they're almost works of art. There are even a couple designed to look like cars. And it just serves to showcase that all forms of automotive transport are in some way mighty feats of engineering. So here's to you, crazy Danish tractor-pulling fans. Keep on doing what you do.
